







Historically, Men desiring to join Freemasonry had to know a current Mason or had a family member that was a Mason. In more recent times, Freemasonry has communicated to the general public that to “Be a Mason, Just Ask A Mason”. So, it has left many great men wondering how to join freemasonry. Here is your opportunity to ask a mason. Read below and if you meet these requirement then proceed to step 2.
Before You Set Out On Your Journey To Join Freemasonry, Are You Generally Qualified?
Freemasonry is a Worldwide Organization, in America, each State’s Grand Lodge sets the rules for whom can qualify to join their local Freemason lodges. There are some differences from state to state. However, here are some general qualifications.
To Join Freemasonry : You Must Be A Man Of Adult Age.
Freemasonry is a Fraternal organization so to become a member of a Regular lodge you need to be a man, usually minimum of 18, 21 or 25 years of age (depending on State, in some cases exemptions are made for military service and those that have family members that are Masons.) You must join Freemasonry of your own Freewill as a man.
To Join Freemasonry : You Must Be Of Good Report & Moral Character.
It is important that you have a good and strong moral character. This is determined by the local lodges but in general, if you do not know what is a good moral character then you likely should not try and join.
To Join Freemasonry : You Must Believe in A Supreme Being.
This is universally required. There is no requirement that you believe or practice any specific religion. You just have to believe in a Supreme Being, no atheist can become a Freemason.
As stated earlier, these are just the general requirements to join the Freemasons and each State has its own requirements for members to join its lodges.
